World Christianity

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door,” says Bilbo in Lord of the Rings. Dangerous, yes, but also exciting. When our feet cross a threshold, we never know who or what we’ll encounter. This call to adventure is as pertinent to the twenty-first-century church in today’s globalized world as it is for two hobbits in Middle Earth. People from different cultures, customs, languages, and worldviews express the Christian faith in a myriad of ways. What happens when we step outside our doors, our homes, our churches, and our ways of practising faith to encounter and learn from one another? Let’s find out.
